Kookburra Power Technologies is supplying a 15MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) for Flow Power’s Mil Lel Energy Project. The system comprises three 5MWh battery containers, each delivering 4.6MW of inverter output, along with a step-up transformer station—all manufactured by Swiss company Brunstock.

Situated in South Australia, the Mil Lel site will feature a 5MW solar farm integrated with the BESS. This pairing enhances grid reliability and supports load balancing, particularly during peak demand periods.

The KTECK BESS will also provide FCAS, contributing to a more stable and resilient electricity grid. As energy consumption continues to rise across the state, the Mil Lel project plays a vital role in delivering clean, dependable power to local businesses and communities.

KTECK is the exclusive Australian representative Brunstock, a company committed to sustainable energy solutions. Brunstock’s battery energy storage systems are purpose-built for Australia’s harsh and remote environments. From precision welding and durable exterior finishes to a galvanised steel base, every component is designed for long-term performance.

Inside each cabinet, liquid-cooled batteries meet both IEC and Australian standards, ensuring high reliability and efficiency. Brunstock BESS supports rapid frequency modulation and network development, making it ideal for modern grid applications.

Our KTECK battery energy storage systems integrate long-life batteries, a BMS, a thermal management system (TMS), a safety management system (SMS) and an intelligent power distribution system (IPD) in a 20-foot standard container.

The Mil-Lel BESS project will feature three of our 5MWh battery containers, giving a total of 15MWh. These are further customised to output 4.6MW through the inverter.

We are proud to work with Flow Power on both the BESS and the required step-up transformers for the Mil Lel Solar Farm. The equipment is scheduled to arrive in Australia and go to site in the second half of 2025 after where it will be tested, commissioned and put into service.
