Monarto BESS project icon showing three energy storage containers and a solar farmKookburra Power Technologies is supplying a 15MWh battery energy storage system for Flow Power’s Monarto Energy Project. This includes three 5MWh battery energy storage containers (with 4.6MW inverter output) and a step-up transformer station, all of which are made by Brunstock.

This renewable energy site in South Australia is planned to contain a 5MW solar farm paired with our 15MWh BESS. Like all renewable energy sites, the battery storage component provides stability and load balancing for managing peak demand.

Supporting FCAS (frequency control ancillary services), KTECK BESS will help make the region’s electricity grid strong and stable. South Australian businesses need more energy than ever, and this project is part of the broader solution to meet that demand with clean, reliable power.

KTECK represents Brunstock in Australia, which is a company that is focused on environmentally friendly power solutions. Brunstock’s battery energy storage system was designed with the rugged and remote landscapes of Australia in mind. From the high quality workmanship in the exterior facings and welding to the galvanised steel base, Brunstock BESS is tough enough for the job. The liquid cooled batteries inside the cabinets adhere to IEC and Australian standards. They are safe, reliable and highly efficient.

Brunstock BESS supports network construction and fast frequency modulation.

Our KTECK battery energy storage systems integrate long-life batteries, a BMS, a thermal management system (TMS), a safety management system (SMS) and an intelligent power distribution system (IPD) in a 20-foot standard container.

The Monarto BESS project will feature three of our 5MWh battery containers, giving a total of 15MWh. These are further customised to output 4.6MW through the inverter.

We are proud to work with Flow Power on both the BESS and the required step-up transformers for the Monarto Solar Farm. The equipment is scheduled to arrive in Australia and go to site in the second half of 2025 after where it will be tested, commissioned and put into service.
